After years of working in the spirit industry, Romain Guille, along with two of his best friends, decided to launch Aval cider, a cross-atlantic project. Made in Brittany, where he is originally from, and available on both continents this cider is a true french west coast gem: dry and full, but with some delicate depth.

Aval means "apple" in Breton, but also phonetically "swallow" in french. Pick whichever translation fits the moment.

Best place in the world

New York City, of course. We're in this complicated, abusive relationship. An emotional roller coaster. I love it.

Best place to eat

Roberta's. Shamelessly, one of the main reason I moved to Bushwick. Never been disappointed in 7 years. The Cheesus Christ, with honey for the win.

Roberta's, 261 Moore St, Brooklyn, NY 11206, USA.

Best place to drink

It's like asking to choose your favorite child. Bizarre is awesome. Go there alone, enjoy the show(s).

Bizarre, 12 Jefferson St, Brooklyn, NY 11206, USA.

Best place to dream

The summit of Mammoth Mountain, in California

Best place to work

On an Orange Vespa. This beast of burden.

Best place to breathe

Noorderlicht in Amsterdam. Literally, the light of the north. Amazing outdoor bar in the most unknown part of the city.

Noorderlicht café, NDSM-Plein 102, 1033 WB Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Best place to be inspired

At a Parquet Courts concert. The Strokes defined New York in the 2000's, Parquet Courts is defining it now.

Best place to love

Tempelhof in Berlin. An airport built by the nazis, that's been turned into this huge park. Try to hate, over there.

Tempelhof Park, 12049 Berlin, Germany.
